ANTE-post Betway Lincoln mover Lord Of The Land features among 22 declarations for Saturday’s handicap and will break from the same stall as Mondialiste did when second for the same yard last year.

French import Lord Of The Land, who has been drawn in stall six for the first big race of the British Flat turf season, has yet to race in Britain but punters are putting their faith in his new trainer David O’Meara conjuring plenty of improvement.

He found the improvement with Mondialiste, who had a similar profile to Lord Of The Land, last year as he progressed thoroughout the season and won a Grade 1 in Canada at the end of the year.

Lord Of The Land is currently the 5-1 favourite having been as big as 25-1 with the sponsors when betting first opened.

Bravo Zolo,  the 9-1 second favourite, has also been handed a low draw in stall two, while 10-1 Express Himself will break next door to Lord Of The Land from stall seven.

Harry Dunlop will have his first runner in the Lincoln on Saturday with Storm Rock and is hoping the ground, described as soft on Thursday, remains on the easy side of good

He said: “The owners were mad keen to have a go at the Lincoln. He’ll enjoy the ground which hopefully is going to be soft. He’s in good form, quite if he’s up to beating some of these unexposed sorts like David O’Meara’s I don’t know. Fingers crossed but it’s a pretty tough task.”

William Haggas will not be able to register a fourth Lincoln success as he had to rule out the well-fancied Mitraad but he does have a good chance in the Betway Spring Mile with Predominance, who is likely to be prominent in the market. A field of 22 have been declared for the consolation race which is run over the same course and distance as the Lincoln which will also feature Lincoln Trial winner Keystroke.

Need for speed

One of the most exciting clashes on Saturday’s Doncaster card is in the Betway Brocklesby Stakes as Mark Johnston, who has had three juvenile winners from as many runners this season, sends out debutant The Last Lion against the Wesley Ward-trained Create A Dream.

US trainer Ward has enjoyed notable successes with his juveniles at Royal Ascot in recent years and the presence of one of his runners adds a fascinating dimension to the race.

Ward and Johnston are also set to clash in the opening contest at Kempton, with New Trier, who represents the US trainer, and Dusker going for Johnston
