ESPN broadcaster Chris Mortenson has been sidelined as he battles cancer, but the long-time reporter was on the mind of Arizona wideout Larry Fitzgerald following his electric finish to the Cardinals’ overtime victory Saturday night.

“Mort, I want to tell you, man,” Fitzgerald said during an on-field interview on ESPN. “We’re thinking about you, and fight, baby. Love you, Mort.”

Fitzgerald scored the game-winning touchdown on a five-yard shovel pass and run in overtime. Mortenson, 64, previously revealed that he was recently diagnosed with Stage IV throat cancer this week. He has taken a break from covering the NFL during the playoffs in order to “fight the good fight.”

ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen reveals he’s battling stage IV throat cancer.

Fitzgerald, the son of a sportswriter, caught eight passes for 176 yards in the playoff win that put the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game to be played next week. Mortensen responded to the well wishes on Twitter.

“Thank you everybody and thank you @LarryFitzgerald. I am humbled.

1 Timothy 2:1.”

The scripture referenced in the Tweet reads, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.”
