The biggest QB rivalry the NFL has ever know has come to an with Peyton Manning’s retirement.

Peyton Manning’s on-field credentials are well-documented, but the outpouring of support from fellow athletes upon news of his retirement reflected the respect he earned from his peers. Word broke Sunday that Manning informed the Broncos that he will, indeed, ride off into the sunset following the team’s Super Bowl 50 victory over the Panthers last month.

Perhaps the most telling endorsement of them all came from Manning’s rival and friend, Tom Brady, on the Patriots’ quarterback’s Facebook page.

“Congratulations Peyton, on an incredible career,” Brady wrote. “You changed the game forever and made everyone around you better. It’s been an honor.”

But Brady was far from the only current or former NFL player that reacted positively to Manning’s career on social media.

“Man thank you P thank you 4 all the memories I love you man believe me I have a friend 4 life. A 9 year old fan to a teammate P G.O.A.T,” Broncos running back C.J. Anderson wrote on Twitter.

“I’m happy the big fella is riding off in2 the Sunset…Another Super Bowl ring, some free Bud Light, Papa Johns is booming..Congrats Peyton,” added punter and former Manning teammate Pat McAfee.

Plenty of athletes from other sports paid their respects, too.

“Congrats to the best EVER! Peyton Manning! Thanks for GIVING US U!!!” Allen Iverson wrote on Twitter.

And of course, Manning’s endorsements got plenty of play too.

Congratulations Peyton, on an incredible career. You changed the game forever and made everyone around you better. It’s been an honor.

I love u Peyton Manning,” Orioles outfielder Adam Jones wrote. “Great career. Now send me some Papa Johns por favor.”

“1st All Time Passing Yards & Touchdowns. A @Nationwide Financial retirement planner can assist you today Peyton,” NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. wrote. “Omaha!!”

Perhaps the most interesting anecdote actually came from Bills guard Richie Incognito, who over a series of tweets told a story of how Manning introduced himself to Incognito’s father at the 2012 Pro Bowl.

“My dad was in shock,” Incognito wrote on Twitter. “As Peyton chatted with my dad I was freaking out! Peyton F—ing Manning is talking to my dad!!!!”

On that same trip, Incognito noted another Manning moment he enjoyed.

“While sipping beers by the pool me and Peyton talked blitzes in 2012,” he wrote. “Are you kidding me!?!?!!? One of the coolest experiences of my life!”
