ANY punter who won a share of the Placepot at Southwell on Sunday will have plenty of ammunition for the Cheltenham Festival as the dividend was a whopping £51,326.60.

There were just 1.3 winning tickets in a pool of £91,403.54.

There was no winning favourite on the card and only two market leaders even reached a place, though 4-6 shot Aqua Dude looked sure to land the novice hurdle until stumbling and unseating Paul Moloney after the final flight.

Totepool marketing manager Adam Smith said: “This dividend goes straight into the top ten of all-time Placepot payout, following on from the record £91,000 at Cheltenham in December, and shows yet again that you can win big for a small stake.”
