JAMIE MOORE suffered a broken collarbone when falling on Honey Pound at Taunton on Monday, the rider revealed.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Moore said: “I’ve broken my collarbone. It was an old fracture so hopefully I should be back soon. I expect I’ll be back in about two weeks.”

He will be hoping to be fit in time for the Grand National meeting which commences two weeks on Thursday.

In good spirits

Moore was upbeat about the nature of the injury and does not believe that he will need to see a specialist.

“I feel fine,” the jockey said. “When you are a jump jockey you get so many injuries that you start to feel like a specialist yourself!”

‘One of those things’

Moore was still in contention aboard the Tim Vaughan-trained Honey Pound when the horse belted the fourth-last fence and fell heavily. My Brother Sylvest, who was in front of Honey Pound, also made a significant error at the fence but Moore does not feel his mount was distracted by his rival’s mistake.

“No, he just fell – it was just one of those things,” the rider said.

Moore, who enjoyed a good start to the year when guiding Mountainous to victory in the Coral Welsh Grand National, suffered a torrid time of things with injury in 2015. He sustained a broken hip at Worcester in June not long after returning from a broken leg.
