Suns joke Affleck should've inked their logo on his back

Don’t the Suns have enough problems of their own?

The floundering Phoenix franchise has joined in on the recent roast of Ben Affleck’s garish back tattoo. He gave a sneak peek of the ink on the set of his new movie “Live by Night” in December.

But the Suns organization joked that Affleck might have been better suited inking their team’s logo on his back if he was really searching for a unique style.

“Hey Ben Affleck, if you wanted a good looking colorful Phoenix tattoo you should have got (sic) this on your back,” they tweeted, including a picture of the fiery Phoenix logo, which creates an outline of the mythical bird in flames.

Affleck’s actual tattoo depicts a rising phoenix, and his ex-flames haven’t appreciated the actor using the ink as a metaphor for his newfound freedom from their clutches.

The couple have decided to divorce after 10 years of marriage, they announced in a joint statement Tuesday, June 30, 2015. The statement notes that the decision comes after careful consideration and that they will stay committed to co-parenting their three children, Violet Affleck, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck and Samuel Garner Affleck. Ben Affleck’s exes Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez have both publicly bashed his phoenix tattoo.

“A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario?” ex-wife Jennifer Garner told Vanity Fair in their March issue. “I take umbrage. I refuse to be ashes.”

Jennifer Lopez, Affleck’s former fiancée, echoed those sentiments by saying “It’s awful! What are you doing?”

Affleck certainly could have made a wiser choice for a tattoo that almost fully covers his back, but the Suns logo wouldn’t have been a winner either. With a young and inexperienced roster searching for a leader, Phoenix isn’t showing signs of rising anytime soon.

Although at 15-45 in the cellar of the Western Conference, the only place to go from here is up.
