WATCH: Intramural player nails deep backwards buzzer beater

[ad_1]

All self-proclaimed intramural sports studs should now feel inadequate.

This insane, backwards full-court buzzer beater by a Georgia Southern rec player puts the many acrobatic shots that have surfaced this week to shame.

Loy Waters, also a former football player for the Eagles, took an inbounds pass and heaved it over his shoulder the full length of the court. It miraculously went in before the horn sounded, hitting nothing but net.

JOSH HENDERSON HITS WILD 80-FOOT BUZZER BEATER

Though Waters was deservedly mobbed by his team after the prayer, it was the referee’s reaction on the other end of the court that was perhaps most priceless. He watched the shot go in and then did an apparent double take, clearly not believing what he’d just seen.

After the improbable shot elicited little other reaction from that official, he pointed back at the person filming as though checking to make sure it had been captured. The cameraman appeared to say, “We got it,” at the end of the video.

OFFICIALS WAVE OFF BUZZER BEATING THREE WITH STOPWATCH

That’s become a theme of late, with seemingly every buzzer beater from half court or beyond getting its due attention because somebody happened to be holding an iPhone. This one, in particular, earned its spot on Sports Center’s Top 10.

If rival coach Ron Hunter of Georgia State had seen it, he likely would have been floored.
