LE PREZIEN is set to try and extend his impressive run of form at Haydock on Saturday after featuring among 12 entries for the Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle.

Trained by Paul Nicholls, the progressive hurdler – 2-1 favourite with the sponsors for Saturday’s Grade 2 contest – was an impressive 19-length winner on his latest start at Doncaster and earned quotes of 25-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle with Betway and Paddy Power.

The five-year-old runs in the colours of the Million In Mind Partnership, who also have unbeaten mare The Organist entered in Saturday’s £30,000 contest.

The Organist is an 8-1 chance for Saturday’s race but Anthony Bromley, racing manager to her owners, warned: “Le Prezien is on schedule to go to Haydock, while The Organist would only run if Le Prezien didn’t line up.

“It is heavy at Haydock and there is supposed to be more rain later in the week but it was pretty testing when Le Prezien won at Doncaster so he should be able to cope with it.”

Irish Angle

There are four Irish-trained entries, including Bleu Et Rouge (7-2) and Royal Caviar (5-1) from the Willie Mullins yard. Bleu Et Rouge ran with credit to be beaten five lengths by stablemate Long Dog in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, while Royal Caviar won his only start of the campaign at Thurles in November.

‘Road To Cheltenham’

Saturday’s contest is the fourth of Sky Bet’s ‘Road To Cheltenham’ series. The three trials so far have been won by Altior, Yanworth and Min, all of whom are prominent in the betting for the Supreme.

Min, who represents the same connections as Champagne Fever, Vautour and Douvan, the last three winners of the race, is a best-priced 13-8 favourite after his impressive win at Punchestown earlier in the month.
