The Islanders entered the NHL All-Star break on a sour note, giving their fans another reason to be angry.

Travel issues in the wake of the snowstorm over the weekend led to scores of empty seats at the start of the Isles’ 4-2 loss to the Red Wings Monday night at Barclays Center. The crowd somewhat filled out over the course of the period — the announced attendance was 12,086 — but it was clear many fans were affected by limited train service.

As of Monday evening there were no LIRR trains running between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal, the travel hub for Barclays Center. Fans taking the train had to go to Penn Station and take a subway, where their LIRR tickets were honored. There were also delays between Jamaica and Penn around an hour before puck drop because of fire department activity at Jamaica.

“Due to historic Winter Storm Jonas that hit the New York metropolitan arena over the weekend, many Islanders fans on Long Island experienced difficulties making the trip to Barclays Center for tonight’s game against the Red Wings,” Barry Baum, executive vice president and chief communications officer for Barclays Center, said Monday night in a statement.

“LIRR service remains suspended on the Hempstead, West Hempstead, Far Rockaway, and Long Beach lines, and there are no trains running between Jamaica Station and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. On average, 5,000 Islanders fans ride the LIRR to each game at Barclays Center.

“Barclays Center is working closely with the LIRR to keep fans informed of service changes and alternate routes, and we will continue to do so until regular service is restored. Fans are encouraged to check the official Islanders social media platforms for updates in the coming days.”

The snowstorm forced Saturday’s Islanders-Flyers game at Barclays to be postponed.

Ex-Ranger Brad Richards’ power-play goal at 10:57 of the first put Detroit (25-16-8, 58 points) up 1-0, a clean-up off a failed Nikolay Kulemin clearance attempt from behind the net.

Jack Capuano changed up his lines in the middle of the first period. That move paid quick dividends as Brock Nelson, who was moved up to play with All-Star John Tavares and Ryan Strome, scored his team-best 19th goal of the season at 16:33. Tavares helped force the Red Wings into a defensive-zone turnover, creating a two-on-one in which Tavares fed Nelson for the equalizer.

The tide didn’t turn for the Islanders (25-16-6, 56 points,) however, as their sloppy play carried into the second, where Justin Abdelkader and Danny DeKeyser gave Detroit a two-goal lead. Mikhail Grabovski scored on a breakaway with 4:48 left in the third before Luke Glendening’s late empty-netter.
