VICTORIA PENDLETON completed her first race over jumps on Sunday when she finished fourth in a point-to-point.

The double Olympic track cycling champion, who is training to ride in the St James’s Place Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, was competing in her third point-to-point.

Riding the newly acquired Supreme Danehill in the Confined Race, the opening contest of the Silverton Point-To-Point at Black Forest Lodge in Devon, Pendleton was never in with a chance of winning but got round to claim fourth in the race won by Delphi Mountain.

Pendleton, whose last point-to-point ride was on December 6, is due to partner According To Sarah in the Ladies Open Race later on the card.

During her Betfair-backed campaign, Pendleton has competed in amateur races on the Flat finishing second on her first ride at Ripon in the summer.

She has also received assistance from champion trainer Paul Nicholls, ridden out regularly for Lawney Hill and taken part in a schooling session with Sir Anthony McCoy.
