Asdrubal Cabrera should be set to play on Sunday.

JUPITER, Fla. — Asdrubal Cabrera has enough time to be ready for Opening Day, the veteran shortstop said Monday after playing in his first Grapefruit League game since March 10. Cabrera played five innings in the Mets’ 3-1 loss to the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. “I think I need three more to be ready for the season,” said Cabrera who went 0-for-3 Monday.

That the Mets put him in the lineup is a sign they are confident he will be ready for Opening Day, because they would not risk forfeiting the ability to back-date a DL move if they thought there was a chance he would start the season on the disabled list.

Terry Collins said he will get enough at-bats between the final Grapefruit League games, the two exhibition games in Las Vegas and a minor-league game or two to be ready.

OPENING IN THE PEN?

Bartolo Colon was solid in his final spring training start, holding the Cardinals to three runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked none. The veteran right-hander said that the Mets have talked to him about starting the first week in the bullpen because of the weird schedule they have.

With an off day on Monday and then back-to-back off days on Wednesday and Thursday, Colon could be waiting a long time for work. On the other hand, with Matt Harvey’s availability for Opening Day in question due to a mysterious medical condition, Colon could be slotted in to take that start.

TEAM BONDING

The Mets treated their final road game in the Grapefruit League like a big league game. The entire squad got on the buses in Port St. Lucie and made the 45-minute drive to Jupiter to work out together and be in the dugout together.

DOTS ALL

When he was a Met, Ruben Tejada cheered with the rest of his teammates in the dugout every time Colon was at-bat and made contact with the ball. Now the Cardinals shortstop, Tejada smiled a little as he fielded the ground ball Colon hit in the sixth inning and held it a beat or two, allowing Colon to chug up the first base line in the heat and humidity, before finally throwing his friend out. As Colon, who had a career-high eight hits and four RBI last year, ran off the field, he had a smile for Tejada — and the crowd at Roger Dean Stadium gave him a rousing round of applause for his effort.
