A SECOND inspection has been called for Wednesday’s card at Ludlow, but conditions need to remain dry for the fixture to stand any chance.

Clerk of the course Simon Sherwood held an inspection at 8am on Tuesday, but deferred a final decision until the afternoon.

He said: “We had a bit more rain overnight and do have some surface flooding. Unless we get a clear run we’ll be struggling and will make a decision either way this afternoon.

“It’s very much in the balance, unfortunately at this time of the year it doesn’t dry very quickly as it’s chilly and we’re just reliant on dry weather. Looking at the forecast it’s not too optimistic but we’re just trying to give it a sporting chance.”

There is also an inspection scheduled at 2pm for Taunton’s meeting on Thursday. The track is waterlogged in places.
