PLUMPTON’S meeting on Monday is subject to an 8am inspection, while officials at Ayr will assess conditions at noon that day to determine if racing can take place on Tuesday.

Mark Cornford, Plumpton’s clerk of the course, reported it had been snowing at the track since 4am on Sunday with “about 12mm” covering the course.

A further band of sleet and snow is forecast overnight into Monday, he added. Landing, take-off and crossing areas have been covered.

Frost covers have also been deployed at Ayr, which is due to race on Tuesday.

The course is covered with 20mm of snow and wintery showers are forecast for Sunday night, according to clerk Emma Marley.
