What’s Peyton Manning done lately, anyway?

Apparently, not enough for the Broncos. Or at least not enough for DenverBroncos.com. The team’s website, seemingly in an effort to downplay losing both Manning and Brock Osweiler in just a couple of days, highlighted all the bad parts of the team’s quarterback play from a year ago. You know, when they won the Super Bowl.

“The Broncos won Super Bowl 50 last season despite having the second-lowest team passing efficiency rating — a combined 74.3 rating for the regular season and postseason, 13.5 points lower than the league average of 87.8. Only the then-St. Louis Rams had a worse collective quarterback rating,” the article reads.

But it keeps going.

“Considering that the Broncos won it all with the struggles at quarterback, they like their chances of remaining a contender with even modest improvement under center,” the articles continues. “Among the various modes for roster-building, there appear to be areas where they can find it.”

In reality, the article is correct. The Broncos did, objectively, struggle at quarterback and still managed to win the Super Bowl. But it’s just a little odd that they so aggressively decided to point out the shortcomings of the players that helped earn them a Lombardi Trophy just a few weeks ago.
