THE final day of the Cheltenham Festival will be run on good ground after another fine, drying day at the course.

Cheltenham clerk of the course Simon Claisse plans to water a small area at the bottom of the hill to maintain the going, which had been good, good to soft in places on Thursday before being changed to good after racing.

He said on Thursday: “The going is now good across the course as we’re not using the chutes tomorrow. We’re going to water one furlong of the course to maintain current conditions which is at the bottom of the hill on the New course.

“It is a dry forecast overnight and a dry forecast tomorrow with temperatures expected to reach five or six degrees.”

Road To Riches, who was a gallant third in the Ryanair Chase, is the only non-runner for Friday in the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup. Racing starts with the JCB Triumph Hurdle at 1.30pm.
