BETVICTOR has become an Authorised Betting Partner after agreeing a three-year deal with British Racing, the parties announced on Friday morning.

Under the terms of the deal, BetVictor has committed to make a contribution to racing, based on its profits from the sport made in the UK in order to be allowed to reach sponsorship deals within the sport.

BetVictor CEO Andreas Meinrad believes punters will opt to support firms that gain ABP status and said: “We are proud to announce that we are an Authorised Betting Partner of British horseracing.

“We feel we would be doing our customers a disservice by not getting behind this initiative and believe it will resonate with customers of other companies who choose not to sign up.

“These are exciting times for both British horseracing and BetVictor and we are looking forward to a close, long and successful partnership.”

Friday’s announcement comes a day after Ryanair took over sponsorship of the World Hurdle from Ladbrokes, who are yet to achieve ABP status.

Ladbrokes are one of four firms, along with William Hill, Coral and Sky Bet, who were also told on Thursday by Racing UK that they are not welcome on subscription channel until their stance on becoming an ABP changes.

BHA chief executive Nick Rust said of the BetVictor agreement: “We are delighted that BetVictor has chosen to become an Authorised Betting Partner and that they recognise the benefits of a three-year deal with British Racing.

“We look forward to working with them to grow their racing business, and to seeing their name on British racecourses.”
