WINTER DERBY hero Grendisar features among a high-class entry for the finals of the All-Weather Championships at Lingfield on Friday.

Having been narrowly denied by subsequent Group 1-winner Tryster in the Winter Derby last year, the Marco Botti-trained Grendisar made no mistake at Lingfield three weeks ago and is heading back to the scene of that triumph for Friday’s Coral Easter Classic, a race in which Tryster impressively followed up in last year.

Among a potential field of 13 for the 1m2f conditions event is the John Gosden-trained Maverick Wave, second to Grendisar in the Winter Derby, along with Fire Fighting and Complicit, who finished sixth and seventh in the same race.

William Haggas-trained stablemates Battalion and Our Channel add further depth to the contest.

Gracious John back for more

The second running of the Unibet 3 Year Old Sprint has attracted some familiar names from the all-weather season, including 109-rated speedster Gracious John.

The David Evans-trained sprinter looks set to renew rivalry with Kadrizzi and Field Of Vision, both of whom finished in front of him at Chelmsford last month, when Gracious John ran wide on the home bend and was subsequently found to have finished lame, although still managed a close third.

Wolowitz, too strong for Kadrizzi at Wolverhampton last time, is another fascinating entry among a possible field of 11.

Varying fields

While there is likely to be a maximum field of 12 for the Ladbrokes Mile Championship after 15 horses were entered, including Mindurownbusiness, Mister Universe and Realize, the three-year-old equivalent was reopened after only nine horses were entered.
