Deion Sanders says Johnny Manziel is in love ‘with something that’s crippling him right now.’

Deion Sanders knows who destroyed Johnny Manziel’s NFL career: It’s the ex-girlfriend.

Sanders, an NFL network analyst, said Manziel’s relationship with Colleen Crowley has ruined the troubled QB.

“Johnny’s in love,” Sanders told Cleveland.com on Thursday. “And Johnny’s in love with something that’s crippling him right now. I understand it. And it upsets me that grownups don’t understand it. Because he feels as though this game don’t love him, the people in this game don’t love him, so the only thing that he associates with love is that thing that’s really inflicting a lot of pain on him and that’s his girlfriend.”

The Hall of Fame cornerback backpedaled away from the inflammatory comments on Friday, tweeting: “To folks that misconstrued my words. I never blamed J.Manziel girlfriend for his actions. I stated it’s a inflammatory relationship. #Truth.”

Last week, Manziel reportedly threatened to kill both Crowley and himself, and a police report confirmed that he struck her “several” times.

On Friday, a judge in Texas reportedly signed an order of protection which would keep Manziel away from Crowley for two years. The QB also had to pay $12,000 in legal fees.
