What’s cooler than a pool? The Frisco RoughRiders think a lazy river is.

Now this is out of left field.

Just when you thought baseball couldn’t get any more relaxed, a Texas Rangers affiliate has announced possible plans to replace its existing pool with the ultimate symbol of summertime sluggishness — a lazy river.

“It’s going to be a really cool thing hopefully if we can get that pool project to come to fruition here at the ballpark,” Jason Dambach, executive vice president and general manager of the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, told the Dallas Morning News.

In addition to the lazy river, the club is looking to add several waterfall fixtures that can reflect projected images at Dr Pepper Ballpark, along with a “new cabana and bar and wood party decks,” according to the newspaper.

A year ago, the RoughRiders won Ballpark Digest’s award for best renovation under $6 million despite coming in under budget. Leftover funds from then are going towards the seemingly Jimmy Buffett-inspired upgrade proposals now.

And the Arizona Diamondbacks thought their pool at Chase Field was cool.
