SUPER BOWL 50: BRONCOS VS. PANTHERS
6:30 p.m., Sunday, Ch. 2, Levi’s Stadium, Panthers by 6, 45.5

In what could be his last rodeo, Peyton Manning has a chance to ride off into the sunset with a second Super Bowl title just as John Elway did after Super Bowl XXXIII. Manning’s third attempt at his second ring will hinge on whether his elite defense can slow down the potent Panthers offense, led by likely NFL MVP Cam Newton, who sadly is getting more attention lately for his innocuous gestures instead of his fantastic talent. Will Peyton match brother Eli’s two rings, or will The Season of Cam end with Carolina’s first championship?

SUPER BOWL 50 PROP BETS

BRONCOS KEYS TO VICTORY

1. Maintain balance on offense: Establishing the run early will be an immense help to Manning, whose physical skills have clearly diminished. C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman will need to be effective.

2. Put Aqib Talib on Greg Olsen: Olsen is far and away Carolina’s best pass-catcher. It’s worth it for Denver to assign one of their top cornerbacks to him for most of the game.

3. Keep Cam in the pocket: Keep Cam in the pocket. Limit Newton’s impact with his legs and force him to make plays to his wide receivers.

4. Collapse that pocket: Use that ferocious pass rush, which sacked Tom Brady four times and hit him 17 times in the AFC title game, to get to Newton.

5. Utilize your slot man: Josh Norman rarely covers the slot. Demaryius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders would have favorable matchups.

PANTHERS KEYS TO VICTORY

1. Stick with the run: Jonathan Stewart thrived in the divisional and conference championship rounds against tough Seattle and Arizona defenses, rushing 38 times for 189 yards and two touchdowns over the two games. Keep feeding him often.

2. Don’t give Manning time: Denver’s offensive line doesn’t measure up with Carolina’s defensive front. They don’t need to blitz much to create havoc.

3. Make Manning throw deep passes: His arm strength just isn’t there anymore. Take away the short game and force him to take risks or use his check-downs.

This may be Peyton Manning’s last rodeo, but it also might be a Super loss.

4. Extra pass-blocking: They’ll need it to keep Denver’s pass-rush at bay.

5. Time of possession: Their effective run game chews up a lot of clock. If they get points at the end of long drives, this game won’t be difficult for the Panthers.

TASCH’S TONIC: Denver has one of the top run defenses in the NFL, but it hasn’t faced a rushing attack quite like Carolina’s, especially during this postseason. The Steelers and Patriots had little to offer in the running game with their injury-riddled backfields. This will be a different beast for the Broncos, and they won’t be able to keep Newton and Stewart from picking up chunks of yardage. That and the lack of big-play potential in Denver’s offense will be the difference in this game. The Panthers have been the best team all season long, and they’ll end it wearing the crown.
