Pete Rose, owner of a lifetime ban from baseball for gambling, was chosen to speak at a Cincinnati high school sports award dinner in July.

Maybe these people will actually listen to Pete Rose.

Baseball’s all-time hits leader, whose plea to gain entry to the MLB Hall of Fame was ignored by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred in December, was chosen to speak at the Greater Cincinnati High School Sports Awards hosted by the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The announcement comes just a day after the Cincinnati Reds announced they would induct the two-time World Series Champion who racked up 4,256 hit as he continues serving a lifetime ban from baseball for gambling.

PETE ROSE ENTERING REDS HALL OF FAME

Rose will speak to hundreds of All-Star athletes from 29 Cincinnati high school sports.

Awards include Male and Female Athletes of the Year, Coach of the Year, Heart and Desire, Courage, Best Comeback and Best Moment.

PETE ROSE, BY THE NUMBERS

The July dinner is meant to “promote achievement in…young people and passion among students, parents and alumni,” according to the Enquirer.

If nothing else, Rose probably has some advice on how to cover the spread.
