No More Heroes: looks a cut above according to Patrick Mullins

THE Mullins team have a whole host of short-priced fancies for next month’s Cheltenham Festival, but Patrick Mullins does not believe they have a monopoly on Irish bankers, with the amateur rider declaring that Gordon Elliott’s RSA Chase favourite No More Heroes is a cut above the other staying novices this season.

The RSA Chase is one of the few graded races at this year’s festival in which Patrick’s father Willie doesn’t appear to have an outstanding candidate. Saturday’s Grade 1 Flogas Novice Chase winner Outlander is the yard’s shortest-priced possible representative at 16-1.

Blaklion impressed many observers with his win in the Towtown Novices’ Chase at Wetherby on Saturday but Mullins feels that he may struggle to cope with No More Heroes, who was third at the festival last year and has won on all three starts over fences – including two Grade 1s.

“It was a good performance by Blaklion to give weight and a beating to Definitly Red, form that ties in with Black Hercules, but No More Heroes looks a cut above in my eyes,” Mullins said in the Racing Post’s Monday Jury.

No More Heroes will head straight to the RSA Chase, according to Elliott.
