The honors keep on coming for soon-to-be Hall of Famer Mike Piazza, whose No. 31 Mets jersey will be retired by the team on July 30.

New Hall of Famer Mike Piazza is getting another honor – the Mets will retire his No. 31 jersey during a “Mike Piazza Weekend” at Citi Field.

Piazza will join Tom Seaver (No. 41), Gil Hodges (No. 14) and Casey Stengel (No. 37) as the only uniformed Mets to have had their numbers retired. The ceremony will take place before the Saturday, July 30 game against the Rockies.

“It is such a tremendous honor to have my number retired alongside the great Tom Seaver,” Piazza said in a statement released by the team. “My time as a Met was truly special and I want to thank Fred (Wilpon), Saul (Katz), Jeff (Wilpon) and the entire organization for this incredible gesture.”

Piazza, who will have a Met cap on his Cooperstown plaque when he’s inducted this summer, said after being elected to the Hall of Fame that it would be “icing on top of the icing” to have his number retired by the Mets.

“We are truly thrilled to honor Mike by retiring his number during a weekend-long celebration recognizing his incredible career,” said Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said in a statement. “His offensive prowess, ability to deliver in the clutch, and tireless work ethic helped him become one of the great catchers of all-time.”

In addition to the jersey retirement ceremony, there are other festivities. On Friday, all fans in attendance will receive a Mike Piazza replica jersey. Saturday is the jersey retirement fete and then Sunday there is a Piazza bobblehead giveaway for the first 15,000 fans.

Piazza, the greatest hitting catcher of all time, spent eight years with the Mets and led them to the 2000 World Series. He hit 427 home runs overall in a 16-year career that also included stints with the Dodgers, who originally picked him in the 62nd round of the 1988 draft, a five-game stint with the Marlins before they traded him to the Mets and one year each with the Padres and A’s.
