Mets’ Super Bowl tweet sparks entertaining 4-team exchange

No occasion is unfit for a Bartolo Colon GIF.

Weighing in on the outcome of Super Bowl 50 Monday, the Mets’ Twitter account went with clapping Colon, congratulating the winning Broncos and commiserating with the losing Panthers.

As amusing as Colon GIFs can be, the fun was just getting started.

The diplomatic gesture prompted a quote tweet from Carolina, which reminded that Kansas City lost the 2014 World Series before winning it all a season ago.

Taking that as an invitation to the party, the Royals then jumped in, sharing a GIF of their players raising the trophy after they took down the Mets in five games last fall.

Unsurprisingly, such well wishes didn’t please the Royals’ neighbors at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs were left speechless — a state they expressed with a staring Ice Cube GIF.

Forced to switch to damage-control mode, the Royals attempted to repair their relationship with the Chiefs, assuring their football-playing counterparts of their support.

The Royals, though, should have other things to worry about — their title defense begins on April 3, with a date with the Mets.
