A woman is seeking at least $75,000 in damages from Brandon Marshall in a civil trial set to begin next month stemming from a 2012 incident outside a nightclub in which she claims the wide receiver punched her in the face. The suit is set to hit trial on April 5 in Manhattan Federal Court and is expected to last three days.

In a complaint submitted to a California court in 2013, Christin Myles indicated that Marshall hit her outside of the Marquee nightclub in Manhattan on March 11, 2012. She said she was sent to the ground and has had recurring head and neck pain as a result. The Daily News published a photo of Myles with a black eye several days after the alleged incident.

Myles’ complaint claims there is video that proves Marshall hit her and eyewitness accounts that indicate the same. In the suit, Myles claims Marshall committed assault, battery, negligent infliction of emotional distress and intentional inflection of emotional distress.

Marshall’s defense at the time was that he and his wife were trying to leave the club after she was hit by a thrown bottle during a brawl. After a police investigation, Marshall was not charged for the incident.

Before coming to the Jets, the star wide receiver repeatedly found himself in trouble with the law, including a reported eight alleged instances of domestic violence or domestic disputes between 2006 and 2009, though he was only arrested twice and the charges were dropped in both instances. While on the Broncos in 2007, he was also on hand when teammate Darrent Williams was shot and killed and later testified he may have escalated the situation that led to his teammate’s death.

In 2011, police said Marshall was stabbed by his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall. Marshall later said his wife didn’t stab him.

Marshall announced in 2011 that he had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

The nightclub incident in 2012 is believed to be the last time Marshall has been in trouble with the law. Marshall was traded by the Dolphins to the Bears just a couple of days later. Last offseason, Chicago dealt the wideout to the Jets. Marshall had a terrific season, catching 109 passes for 1,502 yard and 14 touchdowns.

The Jets declined comment on the civil suit, citing the situation as a pending legal matter.
