Four Angels helped pull a devilish prank on teammate Garrett Richards during spring training that put the pitcher in the middle of a marriage proposal gone awry.

As you might imagine, awkwardness ensues.

YouTube pranksters Jesse and Jeana of Prank Academy worked with Mike Trout, Jered Weaver, Kole Calhoun and C.J. Cron to construct the gag at a Scottsdale, Arizona restaurant.

First, a woman approaches the five Angels and asks to take a selfie with them and tells them she’s very nervous because she’s planning to break up with her boyfriend. Richards offers advice — just be straight with the guy.

A few minutes later, a man approaches their table, says Richards is his girlfriend’s favorite player and says he’s going to propose — would Richards bring the ring over to the table for a great moment?

Finally, Trout and company come over and clue in their teammate that the whole thing, including the mock proposal, is a joke. Richards, a good sport, laughs with them.

“I’m like, that’s the girl,” Richards says. “That was kind of awkward.”
