Carmelo Anthony misses the Knicks’ annual charity bowling event as questions of his loyalty have risen of late.

Hours after he apologized for engaging with a heckling fan, Carmelo Anthony was a no-show at his team’s big annual charity bowling event Wednesday at Chelsea Piers.

Anthony’s absence was due to “personal reasons,” according to the Knicks.

The forward has been feeling the heat while clearly frustrated about his team’s struggles, which includes 15 losses in its last 18 games and a free fall essentially out of the playoff race. Along the way, Anthony has had to answer questions about his loyalty to the Knicks and reputation-damaging remarks from former teammate Amar’e Stoudemire.

During Tuesday’s loss to the Trail Blazers, Anthony responded to a heckling fan by referring him to owner James Dolan for a refund. Anthony issued an apology through the Knicks PR Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

“(Anthony’s) in the spotlight in terms of the media and he is the No. 1 guy on the roster. That is a burden that I can’t even imagine,” Robin Lopez told reporters at the bowling event. “So you have to realize he is going through something totally different than the rest of us. That said, we are with him every step of the way.”

Kristaps Porzingis also supported his absent teammate.

“You feel bad for your leader,” the rookie told reporters. “Melo has been doing everything for us — scoring, rebounding, playing really good — and we want to step up and play at his level and help him win games.”
