Away from the Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis’ life sounds boring

Life away from the court sounds pretty dull for Knicks rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis.

For all of the excitement he engenders on the court at Madison Square Garden, Kristaps Porzingis is leading a pretty boring life away from it.

The Knicks rookie sensation, who doesn’t lack for charisma, is leading a seemingly mundane life in White Plains, where he fills his off hours by losing himself in hoops highlights binges on YouTube and watching “Friday,” “Dinner for Schmucks” and “John Wick” repeatedly.

Don’t even ask about dating.

“No!” he told GQ in one of his many media appearances this week. “I mean you always gotta find a little bit of time for the girls, right? But there’s nothing serious really. Nothing too serious. I haven’t been that social yet, and I have been mostly focusing on basketball, but when I have a little more time I might have to meet some new people.”

Porzingis’ living arrangement doesn’t exactly help those matters, either. The 20-year-old is sharing a three-bedroom apartment with his mom, dad and two older brothers north of the city and close to the team’s Westchester training facility. The Knicks gave him a key to the joint — a detail revealed in a Sports Illustrated profile of him this week — where he spends the bulk of his day — from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or later, unless somebody tells him to go home.

In a dueling Q&A with For The Win — Porzingis was on a promotional tour for a sponsor — said that he knew the Knicks fans who booed him on draft night would eventually come around, but even he is surprised with how quickly it’s come full-circle.

“No, I didn’t know they were going to embrace me that fast, but I knew sooner or later, with my personality, and the way that I am, the way I am a hard worker, and with my game, they’re gonna — sooner or later — they’re gonna start to respect me and like me,” he said, “and I’ll just try to be myself, not try to act like anybody. I think that’s what New York has appreciated — the real mission and the hard worker.”

And for those who booed him, he forgives you.
