STAR Australian colt Vancouver, unbeaten in three starts at two when his victories included the Group 1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill in March 2015, is to join Aidan O’Brien to be trained for Royal Ascot.

The son of Medaglia D’Oro, trained in Australia by Gai Waterhouse, is to enter quarantine before being transferred to Ballydoyle.

Paddy Power have inserted Vancouver at 20-1 in their betting for the royal meeting’s Diamond Jubilee, while Coral go a more conservative 14-1.

Coolmore bought a controlling interest in the colt following his Golden Slipper victory and in a statement on Tuesday Tom Magnier of Coolmore Australia said: “Gai is adamant that Vancouver is a Royal Ascot horse and that’s where we’ll be aiming him.

“I’ve spoken to Aidan and Joseph [O’Brien] and they can’t wait for the horse to arrive.

“Gai and her team have done a wonderful job with him, as evidenced by his unforgettable two-year-old season, and let’s hope he does them proud on his travels.

Waterhouse said: “As an unbeaten champion two-year-old and winner of the Golden Slipper, he has nothing more to prove in Australia.

“I have no doubt that he is world class and this plan gives him the best opportunity of proving himself on the international stage, with a view to possible dual-hemisphere stud duties.”
