With one final chance for a victory in the ODI series, Zimbabwe have made five changes to their XI and also got the chance to set a total in Harare after captain Graeme Cremer won the toss on Wednesday.

India’s only change was the inclusion of debutant left-handed opening batsman Faiz Fazal, whose most recent List A innings was a century. Fazal has a reputation as an attractive strokeplayer and it was on show when he was playing for Rest of India against first-class champions Mumbai and struck a 127 in the final innings of the match to overhaul a total of 480.

Injuries have left the Zimbabwean batting looking a little weak. They were forced to replace Sean Williams and Craig Ervine, who had hurt their finger and hamstring respectively. Sikandar Raza and Peter Moor were also “sitting out.”

Malcolm Waller, who was not originally in the 18-man ODI squad, has been called up possibly in light of the injuries. Timycen Maruma, a legspinning allrounder who averages 9.33, has also found a place.

The hosts have left one of their best bowlers of the series, Tendai Chatara, out as well. So the three remaining spots were filled by three fast bowlers – Donald Tiripano, Tawanda Mupariwa and Neville Madziva.

The groundsmen have prepared another new pitch, and its hardness and lack of grass are a sign that the batsmen would enjoy themselves. MS Dhoni, however, was content to be bowling at 9 am and hoped hos bowlers would exploit the moisture that was available.

Zimbabwe (probable): 1 Hamilton Masakadza, 2 Chamu Chibhabha, 3 Timycen Maruma, 4 Vusi Sibanda, 5 Malcolm Waller, 6 Elton Chigumbura, 7 Richmond Mutumbami (wk), 8 Graeme Cremer (capt), 9 Neville Madziva, 10 Donald Tiripano, 11 Tawanda Mupariwa

India (probable): 1 KL Rahul, 2 Faiz Fazal, 3 Ambati Rayudu, 4 Manish Pandey, 5 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Kedar Jadhav, 7 Axar Patel, 8 Dhawal Kulkarni, 9 Yuzvendra Chahal, 10 Jasprit Bumrah, 11 Barinder Sran
