PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Who was that guy playing shortstop Thursday during brief infield drills at Tradition Field?

Man of many talents, Yoenis Cespedes. Just call him the Mets’ ‘Ces S.’

Get it?

Cespedes took grounders at short – for fun only, conspiracy theorists – and left this impression, at least on a reporter: The outfielder might’ve made a pretty good infielder.

YOENIS CESPEDES RIDES A HORSE INTO METS CAMP

Cespedes, his hat turned backward and a blue glove with orange stitching on his left hand, snagged bouncers and fired off hard snap throws while working alongside teammate Asdrubal Cabrera, the Mets’ real shortstop.

“For a big guy like him, he’s not bad,” Cabrera said later, smiling.

“He enjoys this game a lot and I like to enjoy the game, too,” added Cabrera, who lockers next to Cespedes in the spring clubhouse. “He came to me and asked me if he can take ground balls with me. I said, ‘Oh, yeah, come on. Let’s have fun.’

“I love to enjoy this game. It’s working, because there is work involved. But at the same time, have fun…. He told me he played shortstop when he was a kid.”

It was another fun moment in what has been a big camp for Cespedes, who’s caused excitement with his exotic cars, a horseback ride with Noah Syndergaard and by buying a pig at a fair.

Cespedes even came in on a slow roller, barehanded it and threw to first. Then he did the same thing again, completing the throw both times across his body. Cespedes muffed one grounder up the middle, but recovered it quickly and made a hard throw to first.

At one point, while the players were taking batting practice, Cespedes went back to short. “Comin’ at you, Yo!” Curtis Granderson yelled from the batter’s box. He hit a grounder to Cespedes and Cespedes fielded it cleanly.
