Yankees reach deals with Pineda, Ackley to avoid arbitration

The Yankees settled on one-year contracts with Michael Pineda and Dustin Ackley on Friday, avoiding arbitration with both players.

Pineda will make $4.3 million in 2016 and Ackley will be paid $3.2 million, according to a baseball official with knowledge of the pacts who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Yankees are hoping Pineda, who was 12-10 last year, can give them a full healthy season this year. The 26-year-old righty has had injury problems in the past.

Ackley, a 27-year-old utility player, hit .231 with 10 homers last season in 108 games with the Mariners and Yanks.

Four more Yankees — Aroldis Chapman, Ivan Nova, Nathan Eovaldi and Didi Gregorius — are still eligible for arbitration.

Also, the Yankees claimed outfielder Lane Adams off waivers from the Kansas City Royals. He hit .281 between Double-A and Triple-A last year. To make room, the Yankees designated infielder Ronald Torreyes for assignment.
