Yankees make minor deal with Dodgers for two players

[ad_1]

The Yankees made a minor swap with the Dodgers Tuesday, adding lefty Tyler Olson and infielder Ronald Torreyes, who both made their major-league debuts last season.

In exchange, the Yanks sent Old Tappan, N.J. native Rob Segedin and a player to be named later or cash to Los Angeles. Segedin, a 27-year-old infielder who is a former third-round draft pick, batted .287 with seven homers in 71 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season.

Olson, a 26-year-old former seventh-round pick, was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 11 relief appearances for Seattle last season. The Mariners traded him to the Dodgers in December and then LA designated him for assignment earlier this month. Olson had a 3.86 ERA across three seasons in the Mariners’ minor-league system.

Torreyes, 23, was 2-for-6 with the Dodgers in eight games. He hit .261 with four homers and 36 RBI in 110 games at AA and AAA for three different organizations – LA, Toronto and Houston. He was also DFA’d by the Dodgers earlier this month.

The Yankees put both players on their 40-man roster, which is now full.

ARBITRATION GUYS

Six Yankees were among the 156 big-leaguers to file for salary arbitration Tuesday – Dustin Ackley, Aroldis Chapman, Nathan Eovaldi, Didi Gregorius, Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda. The team and players can try to agree on a one-year contract, but if they can’t, the players’ salary will be decided by an independent arbitrator. Some forecasts have Chapman, who made $8.05 million in 2015, getting as much as $13 million in arbitration.
