TAMPA — Brian McCann left Sunday’s game after the second inning with a bruised left knee, the result of a CC Sabathia pitch that first hit Ryan Howard before ricocheting and hitting the catcher.

The ball struck McCann on the inside upper part of his knee. He remained in the game and grounded out to shortstop in the bottom of the second, but was removed after the inning, replaced by Carlos Corporan.

“I would have been fighting it the rest of the game,” said McCann, who noted that he would have “100 percent” stayed in the game had it been the regular season. “Every time I got up and down I would have felt it so when I was hitting, it was a little stiff, I didn’t want to make it more than what it was.”

McCann had been slated to make the trip to Ft. Myers for Tuesday night’s game against the Red Sox, but manager Joe Girardi said he may leave the catcher back in Tampa to give him one more day of rest.

“It’s not something we’re overly concerned about,” Girardi said. “It’s a bruise, got to work through it. We’ll see how he is Tuesday.”

CHAPMAN SHARP
Aroldis Chapman’s second spring outing went much better than the first as the closer struck out three batters, walked one and allowed another to reach base via error, hitting 100 mph on the radar gun. The lefty had walked two batters and hit two others while recording only two outs in his first game.

There was a momentary scare when team trainers went to the mound to check on Chapman, who appeared to land funny after a pitch.

“He kind of hesitated, and we thought maybe he hurt himself,” Girardi said. “He just landed kind of funny; you’ve got to go make sure.”

DAY OFF
The Yankees won’t work out at all Monday, one of two off-days for them this spring. They travel to Fort Myers to face the Red Sox Tuesday night, with Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, Aaron Hicks, Dustin Ackley and Aaron Judge among those scheduled to make the two-hour bus ride.

JUDGE ORDERED TO MINORS
The Yankees made their first round of cuts from major league camp Sunday, sending RHPs Domingo German, Chad Green, Kyle Haynes, James Kaprielian and Brady Lail, LHPs Jacob Lindgren and Tyler Webb, Cs Francisco Diaz, Kyle Higashioka, Santiago Nessy and Sebastian Valle, INFs Jorge Mateo, Deibinson Romero and Tyler Wade, and OFs Lane Adams, Dustin Fowler and Aaron Judge to minor league camp.
