Arsenal fans at Emirates Stadium

The Women’s Super League has set a new season attendance record with six rounds of matches still to play.

A club-record 32,970 watched Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Friday, taking the total number of fans attending WSL games this campaign to 717,721.

That surpasses the previous record of 689,297 set across the whole of the 2022-23 season.

The new record has been achieved with 36 games still to be played.

Larger WSL crowds are becoming common with an increased number of games played at stadiums this season which are usually reserved for clubs’ men’s sides.

After the upcoming Women’s Football Weekend on 23-24 March during the men’s international break, every WSL side other than West Ham will have played at least one game at their main stadium this season.

Arsenal’s win over Manchester United in February set a new attendance record of 60,160 for a WSL game and the Gunners sold out Emirates Stadium in back-to-back matches.
