David Wright still waiting to make spring debut.

LAKELAND, Fla. — David Wright had five at-bats in minor league games at Tradition Field Monday and said he felt good after. The Mets third baseman has yet to appear in a Grapefruit League game as the Mets take it slow to deal with Wright’s spinal stenosis.

Mets sources have said that Friday’s night game at Tradition Field was the target date for Wright’s spring debut.

“It felt good to get some swings,” Wright said. “Tomorrow there are some guys throwing live bullpens, so I’ll stay back, go through a workout again and get some at-bats.

“Wednesday we’re off, and then we’ll reassess and see what’s going on for Thursday and Friday.”

WRIGHT EULOGIZES SHANNON FORDE AT MEMORIAL SERVICE

Wright did not play the field Monday and said getting his timing in the box was the first priority. With the Mets opening the season in Kansas City, Wright could potentially DH and have extra time to work into his defense.

Monday, however, Wright said he was planning to play third in Kansas City.

He also surprisingly said he plans to go on the Mets trip to Las Vegas for a two-game exhibition series against the Cubs.

WRIGHT BELIEVES HE’LL BE READY FOR OPENING DAY

With less than three weeks left in spring training, Wright is eager to get going.

“Because the schedule doesn’t let time to ease into game action, this is the best option. I’d like to play somewhat regularly before the season starts. I don’t want my first real regular action be in Vegas or Kansas City,” Wright said. “I’d like to build more; stamina is important but this is the first step in game action that we came up with.”

Monday, Wright struck out swinging, flied to right, lined a single to left, flied to center, grounded to short. Wright was prepared to run the bases after his single but was not advanced.

Head trainer Ray Ramirez monitored Wright’s work and even though the plan was for four at-bats, allowed him one more.

“It feels good. At-bats are at-bats, whether it’s there now or in Grapefruit League game. These at-bats in the minor leagues are just as important as the at-bats in Grapefruit League,” Wright said. “Facing Clayton Kershaw is probably a little more challenging than facing someone on the back field, but pitchers are pitchers, they’re still trying to get you out.”
