There’s nothing like a little sibling rivalry.

A Friday night Nashville varsity basketball game had some extra emotions when Franklin Road Academy team manager Robert Lewis suited up and drained a last-minute three-pointer.

Lewis, who has Down syndrome, has served as manager for his high school’s basketball, football and soccer teams for four years, got word from coach John Pierce that he could dress for the game four days earlier.

“If we’re ahead comfortably or behind and kind of out of the game, we’ll put those guys in at the end of the game, and we’ve had some good moments with those guys over the last 10 years,” Pierce told FOX Sports.

“But we’ve never had anything close to what happened Friday night.”

With a minute left to play, Franklin Road was up almost 20 points over University School of Nashville, so Pierce made his switch, putting Lewis and fellow team manager Joshua Larkin into the game.

At the same time, University School coach Mike Jones made his own switch, putting Lewis’ younger brother Matthew into the game so the siblings could be on the court together.

“What an act of class and sportsmanship by them,” Franklin Road athletic director Kris Palmerton said.

“Before the game (the University School players) were all hugging (Robert) and giving him high-fives, saying ‘What’s up, Money?’ — that’s his nickname — so it was like he was one of them, too, just like he was one of ours. But it’s clear Robert bleeds blue and white, that’s for sure.”

After missing his first three-point attempt, Lewis set up in the corner and waited for the pass.

With 10 seconds on the clock and his little brother guarding him, Lewis drained the shot.

As soon as the final buzzer sounded, fans rushed the court to lift Lewis into the air as he cheered along with his classmates.

His brother was the first to congratulate him.

“I remember asking myself, ‘Did that really just happen?’” Pierce said.

“I really couldn’t believe — it felt like a fairy tale.”
