BUVEUR D’AIR, who is 10-1 for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, has his second start at two miles over hurdles at Huntingdon today before a possible move up in trip.

The five-year-old, who was twice beaten by Barters Hill in bumpers last season, is being considered for the Supreme or the longer Neptune Management Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

He got off the mark over jumps by 11 lengths at Newbury in November and may have one more trial before March if he shines in today’s novice hurdle.

Trainer Nicky Henderson said: “I would quite like him to run here and then find another race after that, but it depends how this goes.

“We’re not going to find out a whole lot here over two miles but I’d like to know if he will get two and a half.

“He’s got speed but gives all the suggestions he’ll stay.

“He’s a half-brother to Punchestowns so the signs are positive on that front.”

The Queen will also have a runner at the meeting, with Henderson giving Special Agent his second start of the campaign in the 2m4f handicap chase, the first having ended with a 64-length defeat at Newbury.

“He was disappointing at Newbury,” said Henderson. “He had jumped really well at home before that. We’ve been very pleased with the way he’s been schooling, jumping very well, so I’m hopeful.

“He just lacked a bit of fluency last time at Newbury, having been very good before.”
