The robot takeover is imminent.

At least, in golf, that is.

At the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Wednesday, Eldrick the robot nailed a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale.

LDRIC the Robot nails a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale.

The robot — whose official name is the Launch Directional Robot Intelligent Circuitry — landed the hit on the fifth swing.

As opposed to every other tournament during which subdued golf claps are all the rage, TPC Scottsdale encourages onlookers to cheer and celebrate like any other sporting event.

The announcers, we assume, react normally.

The rule change resulted in green beers flying around the tee as fans celebtrated with the robot.

In 1997, coincidentally enough, Tiger Woods hit the exact same shot.
