The mayor of Philadelphia called LeSean McCoy’s alleged actions ‘cowardly.’

It may be several more days before charges are brought against LeSean McCoy for his alleged role in a brawl with off-duty cops, but the mayor of Philadelphia wants the ex-Eagles running back to be punished.

Jim Kenney ripped McCoy during an interview with CBS in Philadelphia for what it appeared he did in a video of the altercation.

“In addition to punches being thrown, there were some kicks that looked as if they were being leveled,” Kenney said. “That’s unconscionable and it’s cowardly.”

He added: “If he wants to pound our officers and stomp our officers, then he needs to pay the price and answer for his actions.”

The Bills tailback and three other men are being investigated after a fight broke out in a club early Sunday morning over a bottle of champagne, which led to two off-duty police officers being hospitalized with various injuries.

Larry Krasner, McCoy’s attorney, told ESPN that the 27-year-old won’t have to turn himself in before Wednesday, assuming charges are brought against him. As of Friday morning McCoy wasn’t charged, but ESPN reported that charges could be brought against him before Wednesday.

Representation for one of the injured officers told WPVI-TV in Philly earlier this week that the altercation should lead to aggravated assault charges.
