Panthers win Super Bowl 50… according to Tecmo Bowl

Oops, sorry, that should read the Carolina Panthers are your Tecmo Super Bowl Champions.

The old Nintendo video game ran a simulation of Super Bowl 50 and has the Panthers turning back the Broncos in a game that didn’t have much offense (the Panthers outgain the Broncos 219 to 207).

Some game highlights, according to the 8-bit simulation include a 70-yard bomb from Cam Newton to Ted Ginn in the first quarter to give the Panthers the early 7-0 lead and a terrible C.J. Anderson fumble on the 4-yard line with 33 seconds to play in the first half (Thomas Davis recovers).

The Panthers’ Charles Johnson registers a sack in the first half as well.

We start the second half with another Broncos turnover, this time a Peyton Manning interception to Kurt Coleman. The Panthers are unable to capitalize, but when the Broncos get the ball back, a nice Ronnie Hillman run (using the diagonal up and down technique, of course) sets up Brandon McManus for a 52-yard field goal try that doinks the right post.
