Thanks to Mats Zuccarello, Rangers fan Vinny Mutone is taking Catherine De Pinho to the prom.

Mats Zuccarello’s got game, and so did one high schooler at the Garden Monday night who got the Rangers forward to help him set up the dream prom date.

Vinny Mutone, an 18-year-old fan from Bohemia, N.Y., held up a sign during warmups of the Blueshirts’ game against the Columbus Blue Jackets that read: “Zucc! if you give me your stick she’ll go to prom with me!!!,” referencing his girlfriend Catherine De Pinho. The two have been friends from Connetquot High School for three-and-a-half years and have been dating for a month.

Zuccarello, the last Ranger off the ice, saw the sign, grabbed an extra stick from the bench, and directed a Garden security guard when he walked off the ice to hand the stick up the stands to the lucky fan.

“We didn’t think it was gonna work, but it did,” Mutone told the Daily News. “I almost cried a little bit.”

Mutone had been thinking of a way to ask De Pinho to the June prom.

“We both love the Rangers and we’re going to a game, so I thought I know the players like to be nice to the fans and stuff,” Mutone said. “So I thought about making a sign. I love Zuccarello. He’s my favorite player.”

De Pinho did indeed say yes, but would she have if Mutone didn’t get the stick? “Yeah, definitely,” she said.

A fellow fan told the couple that it appeared Zuccarello was getting ready to fulfill Mutone’s request.

“I didn’t believe it at first,” De Pinho said. “All of a sudden he’s the last one to get off the ice, and then he goes to grab the stick and points us out in the crowd, and we start freaking out.”

Mutone plays hockey but is a righty, so he can’t use Zuccarello’s lefty stick, not that he was sure he’d use it anyway.

“It feels great to hold his stick,” he said. “That’s crazy. I’m gonna sleep with it.”

Zuccarello ended up scoring the game’s first goal at 17:41 of the first period.

“He scored already, so it’s good luck,” Mutone said.
