James Laurinaitis, cut by the Rams after seven seasons, is eyeing a number of teams.

The Giants are one of seven teams pursuing free agent middle linebacker James Laurinaitis, according to his pro wrestler dad.

Laurinaitis, 29, who was cut by the Rams last month, has either taken or is planning visits to all those teams, his father Joe indicated in a Tweet on Friday night. Joe Laurinaitis is better known as Road Warrior Animal, a Hall of Fame wrestler who made up one half of the famed Legion of Doom. He Tweets from the unverified account @RWAnimal, but it did appear to be him.

James Laurinaitis, who spent seven years with the Rams in St. Louis before he was cut, has been a durable presence in the middle of the Rams’ defense. He’s never missed a single game and never finished with fewer than 109 tackles, though he did battle nagging foot and elbow injuries last season.

Laurinaitis’ dad Tweeted the names of six other NFL cities – Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington, New England, and San Francisco along with the hashtag #visits and a picture of his son. He has already reportedly visited Atlanta and New Orleans. He has not yet visited the Giants, according to a source, and it wasn’t immediately clear if a visit was scheduled.

The Giants are looking for a middle linebacker to replace Jon Beason, who was cut last month, and a team source said they prefer a veteran. On Thursday they signed the oft-injured Keenan Robinson away from Washington to a one-year, $3.5 million deal.
