There aren’t enough days in the year for Kristaps Porzingis to reach out to everyone who cried last June when the Knicks drafted him fourth overall. But Porzingis did connect with the young Knicks fan who was famously seen crying on television when NBA Commissioner announced that the Knicks had drafted Porzingis.

The drama came full circle on Sunday at Madison Square Garden when Porzingis, the Knicks 7-foot-3 rookie, posed for a selfie with the fan.

PORZINGIS CREDITS FAMILY WITH HELPING HIM AVOID TROUBLE

“He acted like my No. 1 fan,” Porzingis said on Monday.

Phil Jackson’s decision to draft Porzingis was met with an immediate backlash when a majority of fans attending the NBA Draft at Barclays Center booed the pick. However, Porzingis quickly emerged as a fan favorite and is averaging 13.6 points and eight rebounds as a rookie.

“I told my brother whenever he sees that kid he’s got to bring him to the sideline so we can take a picture,” Porzingis wrote on NBA.com last month “I will joke around with him a little bit, but not too hard. He’s still a kid. What would I say to him? I would ask if it was him who was crying at the draft and why was he crying. To hear the explanation from the kid, that would be funny.”
