It’s Air Zingis! Kristaps finishes with 29 points and his first double-double since Derek Fisher was fired.

CHICAGO – Kristaps Porzingis finally had a breakout game under Kurt Rambis.

The Knicks rookie forward matched his career-high with 29 points and Carmelo Anthony, back in the lineup after missing Sunday’s game due to a migraine, added 24 as the Knicks defeated the Chicago Bulls 115-107.

The combination of Anthony and Porzingis was too much for the inconsistent Bulls, who have been a major disappointment this season after firing Tom Thibodeau.

Porzingis made 11 of 15 shots and added 10 rebounds as he recorded his first double-double under Rambis, who has been partly criticized for Porzingis’ lack of productivity over the last month. Even Porzingis dismissed the notion that he had hit the “rookie wall.” Porzingis had 18 double-doubles before Derek Fisher was fired.

Anthony made 10 of 22 shots and recorded five assists as the Knicks improved to 29-43. The victory also represented their first road win against a team with a winning record since Jan. 5 when the Knicks beat the Miami Heat.

Anthony reported being pain-free on Wednesday. Of course, his headaches are nothing compared to the problems the Chicago Bulls are experiencing these days. Chicago, which won 50 games last season, fell to 36-34 overall and dropped into ninth place in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks and Bulls play again on Thursday in New York.

The Knicks broke the game open in the third quarter by outscoring Chicago 35-18. Porzingis and Anthony combined for 17 points in the period.

Porzingis sat the first seven minutes of the fourth and returned after Chicago, which had trailed by as many as 22, cut the lead to 105-93. Porzingis hit his next two shots and Anthony’s deep and contested three with 2:37 left made it 112-101.

Nikola Mirotic led the Bulls with 35 points and converted 9 of 13 3-pointers. Derrick Rose added 21 while Pau Gasol shot 2-for-7 and All Star Jimmy Butler went 3-for-11.

Jose Calderon and Robin Lopez each scored 11 for the Knicks and Arron Afflalo added 12 off the bench.
