MEMPHIS — Another game without Carmelo Anthony, another fourth-quarter collapse from the Knicks.

The Knicks star sat out Saturday night’s 103-95 loss to the Grizzlies because of a sprained ankle, saying he preferred to wait until he’s fully healed rather than risk aggravating the injury.

He then watched Memphis take over the game on a 21-6 run to start the fourth quarter, with Marc Gasol punishing New York with 37 points on 15-of-29 shooting. The Knicks (20-22) fell to 0-4 this season without Anthony, and each of the defeats included meltdowns in the fourth quarter without their go-to scorer.

“We still had enough,” said Derek Fisher, who started Langston Galloway in the backcourt, and Arron Afflalo in Anthony’s position. “We were there for three quarters. They won the fourth quarter.”

Kristaps Porzingis played 28 minutes despite missing Friday’s practice with a sore shoulder. And he stole the show from the Matt Barnes drama with 12 points in the first half, converting a backwards, over-his-head, off-balance and-one in the first quarter. In the second quarter, he stole a pass to Marc Gasol, saved it before it crossed the sideline and then found Derrick Williams for the transition layup.

But the rookie disappeared when the defense tightened in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter when he managed just two points. He finished with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting with just four rebounds. The Knicks allowed 13 offensive boards to Memphis. “There was more pressure on me. At the beginning, I was just doing whatever I wanted, finding open shots, hitting open shots,” Porzingis said. “Second half, once they put a little more pressure on us we really couldn’t do what we wanted to do.”

The Knicks have dropped two straight following their impressive four-game winning streak.

“I thought the first half we were a little bit nonchalant. They were without Carmelo so we thought it may be a tough night for them,” Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger said.
