WASHINGTON – It’s official. The Knicks are losers again.

An ugly third quarter doomed New York in a 99-89 defeat Saturday night to the Wizards, clinching a third consecutive losing season for the embattled franchise.

The Knicks (28-42) blew an 18-point lead beause they were outscored, 31-10, to start the second half. A day after acknowledging his future in New York is not a given beyond this season, Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points in 40 minutes – including just six points after the half.

The 31-year-old hit just two of his final 13 shot attempts, struggling right after going to the bench to ice his surgically-repaired left knee. Kristaps Porzingis played well and was more active but still failed to record his first double-double since Feb. 7, finishing with 20 points and seven rebounds. The Wizards (34-35), involved in a three-team race for the eighth seed, were by led John Wall, who torched the Knicks for a second consecutive matchup. The point guard finished with 24 points and 10 assists on 8-of-17 shooting, despite blowing a breakaway tomahawk dunk attempt.
