John Harbaugh eulogizes Tray Walker after motorbike accident

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was among those that eulogized Tray Walker at the cornerback’s funeral on Saturday. Walker died on March 18 following a motorbike accident in Florida the previous night. He was 23.

“On behalf of all the Ravens that are here I just want to say first of all, we love Tray Walker,” Harbaugh said in his eulogy, which was posted online by the Ravens. “We just got to know Tray Walker one year ago. And we found out what a good-hearted, hard-working, determined, really sweet young man that he was.”

The Ravens’ coach shared fond memories of the one year that he and his coaches knew Walker.

“The thing I love most about this guy, this young man, was that Tray Walker smile. That smile can light up a room,” Harbaugh said. “For some reason we’d be standing there for the national anthem, right at the 50-yard line, and I’m telling you, every single time, right there on my shoulder, who was there? Tray Walker. With that smile. Some of the guys said he just wanted to get on TV.”

The coach also mentioned that Walker, in a pre-draft meeting, said his No. 1 goal was to take care of his mother. And he also included other stories about Walker, including the cornerback’s first experience shoveling snow, in which he broke an assistant coach’s shovel.

“Tray Walker, we love you, and we’re going to miss you,” Harbaugh said.
