Jason Pierre-Paul shows just how badly his hand was injured on July 4, sharing a photo reportedly from the day after his infamous fireworks accident.

Jason Pierre-Paul provided a disturbing glimpse into the immediate aftermath of his Fourth of July fireworks accident on Instagram Monday with a graphic picture reportedly taken a day after the explosion that permanently disfigured him.

The Giants defensive end is either sleeping or heavily sedated in the eerie hospital room photo, which shows large amounts of blood seeping through his elevated, bandaged right hand.

“July 5th I remember when I was down and out,” Pierre-Paul wrote in the caption, without giving further details about the image or its origins.

“Just get back up and keep going no matter what.”

If indeed taken on July 5th, the photo would be the earliest known image taken of Pierre-Paul after his fireworks accident. The explosion forced doctors to amputate his right index finger, while there have been additional procedures to address his disfigured middle finger and the lack of mobility in his thumb.

Just last week, Pierre-Paul underwent the first of at least two scheduled offseason surgeries on his hand.

The two-time Pro Bowler has shared numerous pictures of his recovery on social media since returning to the Giants. He initally went silent after the accident, avoiding social media and even reportedly refusing to meet with team officials at the hospital.

In September, the Daily News published what were then the first post-accident images of Pierre-Paul and his hand, which was heavily bandaged and covered up. A month later, he finally revealed the true extent of his injuries by agreeing to having his bare hand photographed while speaking to the press.

Monday’s Instagram post, however, offered the starkest reminder of just how serious his accident was.
