DUAL Classic winner Duramente is fully recovered from the injury that curtailed his three-year-old campaign and has the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as his long-term target.

After establishing himself as clearly Japan’s best three-year-old last season with victories in both the Satsuki Sho (2,000 Guineas) and Tokyo Yushun (Derby), the colt was sidelined with fractures in both forelegs.

According to the website of his owners, the Yoshidas’ Sunday Racing Club, Duramente is back training at Northern Farm on Hokkaido and is set to return to trainer Noriyuki Hori’s stable at the Miho Training Centre before the end of the month.

He is scheduled to return to action after a nine-month layoff in the Grade 2 Nakayama Kinen on February 28 before possibly running in the Dubai Sheema Classic.

“We will enter him for the Dubai World Cup meeting,” said the owners’ representative Shunsuke Yoshida. “I think we will run Real Steel in the Dubai Turf, so Duramente would be Sheema but we will discuss it with their trainers.”
